One-of-a-Kind Chaplain Danny Mack Honored with TNMHPO Lifetime Achievement Award
March 10, 2026

(Austin, TX, March 10, 2026) – Texas New Mexico Hospice & Palliative Care Organization (TNMHPO) proudly announces that Chaplain Danny Mack, M.Div., CDP, has been selected as a recipient of this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing his remarkable contributions to hospice care in Texas and New Mexico over the past 33 years.

Since 1993, Chaplain Mack has served the hospice community in multiple roles, including Chaplain, Bereavement Coordinator, Trainer, Director of Spiritual Care, and motivational speaker. His work has touched patients, families, colleagues, and the broader hospice community, inspiring, educating, and renewing countless lives with his compassion, wisdom, and creativity.

Chaplain Mack’s influence extends far beyond bedside care. He has presented at national, regional, state, and community conferences, connecting with medical professionals, chaplains, pastors, administrators, social workers, volunteers, and the public. Known for his unique blend of humor, insight, and practicality, Danny has helped hospice professionals understand grief, enhance patient care, and find renewed purpose in their work. His book, “If Grief is a Game, These are the Rules,” along with his widely shared “Bereavement Notebook,” has provided invaluable guidance for bereavement care programs across the region. Mack is not afraid to use compassion, comedy, and music to connect with others, and the connections he has made over the decades are felt wherever he goes.

In addition to his educational work, Chaplain Mack has served TNMHPO on the Board of Directors, the Chaplain Development Committee, and the Education Committee. He is a long-standing plenary speaker and workshop leader at the TNMHPO Conference, offering sessions that leave lasting impressions on attendees.

“He gets us,” said Rodney Bolejack, retired chaplain. To Danny, he says, “You have made a difference in the hospice world. You have made a difference in our lives and in our care for the dying. And, through us, you have made a difference in the lives of patients and families you have never met. Danny, we are truly thankful we
can share the hospice journey with you.”

TNMHPO’s Lifetime Achievement Award is presented annually to individuals who have made significant contributions to hospice, promoted its growth, exemplified core values, and devoted at least 20 years of service. Chaplain Mack’s extraordinary career and ongoing impact make him a truly deserving recipient.
