Program Description:
Payment-related scrutiny is the greatest compliance and financial risk for hospice providers; as such, hospice providers must use their annual PEPPER Reports to understand their current risk profile to mitigate audit risk to the greatest extent possible. This 3-part series will teach hospice providers to review/analyze the FY2022 PEPPER Report and identify the greatest risk areas for audit. The last course will detail current Medicare spending outside the Medicare Hospice Benefit and offer risk-mitigation strategies to prevent future audits/recovery.
Part 1: Reviewing/Analyzing the FY2022 PEPPER Report
Part 2: Understanding and Mitigating Medicare Contractor Audit Risk Program
Objectives:
• Identify the 16 Target Areas the analyze each target area report.
• Analyze and identify interrelatedness among the Target Area(s) which pose the greatest risk for payment-related scrutiny.
• Develop a PEPPER Report Action Plan to mitigate areas of greatest payment-related risk.
Part 3: Spending Outside the Medicare Hospice Benefit
Objectives:
• Recall recent regulatory changes designed to decrease Medicare spending outside the Medicare Hospice Benefit.
• Recall the hospice physician relatedness determination process.
• State 3 risk mitigation strategies to ensure compliance with Medicare spending outside the Medicare Hospice Benefit.

Carrie joined Weatherbee in 2009 as an Associate Consultant and was hired as the Consulting Coordinator in 2012. In 2014, Carrie was promoted to the Director of the Consulting Division and in July 2015, she assumed the Chief Operating Officer position. Carrie was promoted to CEO in February 2018.
In August 2021, Carrie became the sole owner of Weatherbee Resources having purchased the company with a business partner in 2018 from the company’s founders, Heather Wilson and Joy Barry. Carrie continues the long-standing history of Weatherbee Resources’ service to the hospice community.

Payment must be made in advance of the program. Webinar registrations may not be shared between agencies. Your registration covers the access of only one log in to the webinar. Handouts and related materials will be sent to you shortly before the program to the email address you provide. Refunds will be issued for those that cancel up to three (3) days prior to the program. Cancellations made less than 3 business days, or ‘no shows’ will forfeit the registration fee. Cancellations must be received in writing via e-mail.
